The majority of those reading this consider themselves “Christian” and NOT polytheistic. What a tangled web we weave to justify ourselves despite our constant sin. When we look beyond the mystical distortion field passed down to us by state corporations called churches headed by government-licensed agents called ministers and see the Ten Commandments through renewed eyes, its obvious what a backward group of people we’ve become.
0. I am the Lord thy God.
No. We choose others to rule over and protect us. If this first statement is not true, then ALL the following commandments are automatically broken. Paul wrote the Corinthians about their “gods many.” The Hebrew word for god in the Bible is elohim. It means “rulers and judges.” The Greek word is theos and means “magistrate.” In other words, we in the US are every bit as polytheistic as any religious group upon which we like to look down our noses. And thus we live in a permanent state of breaking every single one of the ten commandments.
1. Thou shalt have no other gods.
No. We have dozens. Hundreds. Thousands.
2. No graven images or likenesses.
But how many consider Reagan as the coolest Republican of their lifetime? And Washington is so revered that we put his image on the paper money and metallic coins that we pretend have value. In fact, we even sanctified Washington’s status in a painting in the Capitol dome that raised him to the position of Apitheos (God of gods) .
And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them. According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt even unto this day, wherewith they have forsaken me, and served other gods, so do they also unto thee.
1 Samuel 8:7-8
3. Do not take the Lord’s name in vain.
How many say “Lord, Lord” while really expecting the people they vote for to provide for and protect them? How many use the word “prayer” in an ethereal way while they make literal prayers to the State for marriage licenses, birth certificates, social security numbers, education, permission to travel, etc.?
4. Remember the sabbath day.
Has to do with debt. Labor, then rest and enjoy the fruits. The order of those actions is what needs to be remembered and kept holy (pure). Forgetting the sabbath concept is enjoying fruit purchased with the promise of future labor. That makes you a servant. That makes someone else your god. The borrower is servant to the lender. How much of your life is based on debt? What about the debt of your so-called “Christian” nation? The entire US social security system is based upon parents selling their children into bondage…contracting with the government based on the future labor of their children. See Not So Secure Socialism.
5. Honor thy father and thy mother.
“Not necessary. My other fathers (the state) gave me my ID, educated me, sees to my welfare and healthcare. Those fathers will also take care of my parents in their old age.”
6. Thou shall not murder.
“Unless it’s by drone. And it’s people that have different worldviews than I do. And they have lots of oil under their ground. And they express intentions of returning to the gold standard and untying themselves from the US dollar.”
7. Thou shall not commit adultery.
“It’s critically important that my politician is the winner of this election cycle. He is the only elohim that can save us! He is the last chance that I will be part of the majority that gets to dictate how my neighbor’s goods will be used. And my vote is my contract to worship (uphold and serve) the system, even if the system chooses an elohim from the other party.”
8. Thou shall not steal.
“Unless I elect people to do it for me. And call them ‘government.’ Then it’s OK. Especially if my kid will get a ‘free’ education’ out of the deal.”
9. Thou shall not bear false witness.
“Absolutely! I’m a Christian. I worship God alone. Jesus Christ is my Lord (master/ruler/judge) and Savior (Commander in Chief, healthcare provider, welfare provider, policeman…)”
10. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s goods.
“But if they don’t pay their property tax to educate my child, put them in a cage and take away their property.”
Considering of how drastically this re-understanding of the practical meaning of the word “god” transforms the lesson contained in the Ten Commandments, it might be interesting to reconsider the two commandment of Jesus in this new light…
Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
Wow! Loving God with all your heart means not having false elohim (rulers/judges/magistrates) to take care of you. And loving your neighbor as yourself means not having false elohim who take from your neighbor in order to take care of you.
The Galatians version is even better…
For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.
Note that the word liberty is a central component of these two commandments. To fully grasp the significance of this, readers MUST check out the Higher Liberty video and post around which this website revolves. It’s critical to understand what a central role the subject of government played in the whole ministry/mission of Jesus. The discussion here is not about some air-fairy concept. Rather, Jesus is contrasting a society with support structures based on charity versus those based on forced taxation where people compete to consume each other’s life-blood—the fruits of their labor.
So even when the ten commandments are simplified into two, we see that our current government support structures are built around the constant breaking of them.
The point is…
If so-called “Christians” were REALLY honest with themselves and truly admitted how big of sinners they are, then there could be a possibility of repentance (turning around) and striving to change things for the better.
But as long as they refuse to put away childish things and continue to live in a mystical Never Never Land, things will continue to go to hell in a hand basket and they will be stripped of everything until, finally, they will have no other choice but to realize what a strong delusion they have been under.
…because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
